Crock Chronicles 2000

It's been over 2 years since I last updated this page. we are now members of Northglen United methodist church. cheryn is the co-coordinator for IHN (a network of churches providing facilities for homeless families). She is also doing crafts fro VBS this year. Beth was active in the youth group. Randy alcolyted (lit candles in the sanctuary) once a month or so. the kids just finished school for the year and have a frantic summer planned.Dennis has been swamped at work, because they are short help. he does find time to get Beth and Randy to Baseball and softball practices and games, as well as be treasurer for Randy's Cub Scout Pack. Cheryn was a substitute teacher this year to earn money for her folk's 50th Wedding Anniversary and Beth's upcoming European "Grand Tour of the Continent in 2001" with the Colorado Honor Band.
Beth's Adventures and Escapades

Beth was a 7th grader this year. She settled into the International Baccalaurate Program for Middle Years nicely this year. She really enjoyed algeo and was nominated the Pathagoras Princess for her core. She is agonizing overwhether to take Technology or Band next year. Because of the IB requirements, she has to have a foreign language, health and pe, which leaves her with her choice between Band or Technology. A lot of kids have that same problem, so the school has designed a special "wheel" that incoporates technology with pe and health, go figure? She had wanted to test out of Social Studies this year, it was a drag for her. She loved the Language arts teacher, who also did art and reading. Beth is getting music every Monday with Colorado Honor Band, and possible is going to bail out of the "wheel" and go to Technology, and skip Band at school. Who knows with teenagers. These are difficult decisions, and she is being very mature about weighing which is most important for her. Colorado Honor Band has been fun for Beth, she sat 2nd or 3rd chair in Advanced Band all year. Now, she is marching in the cadet band. They have parades in Vail, Golden and Cheyene, WY this summer. she wants a piccolo, so if any of you out there has one, please contact us!!! Beth played on the softball team at her school last fall and has just started playing softball with a local girl's league this summer. When school starts Beth will be a WEB (Welcome EveryBody) Leader for the 6th graders. She gets to practice on her brother this summer.

Randy's Rousing Triumphs

Even though Randy is only 9 he did a wonderful job in his Gifted School's Fifth grade this year. he Sang in the Star magic choir. when the New year arrived it saw him starting Trumpet instruction at stargate after school. then in the Spring he attended the school district's 5th grade band program for 10 weeks. So he was playing trumpet (with braces) 3 days a week, not including practice. He was accepted into the Colorado Honor Band intermediate band for the summer. Last Monday he came home so excited, he actually stayed up with the harder music!! He is planning on playing in the school district's intermediate Summer Band starting the end of June. In addition to music and church, he (and his father) have been active in Cub Scouts as a Webelo Scout. They had a ball with the Pinewood Derby, and Raingutter Regatta. Randy was working on the boat at 10:00 pm one night whe he finally got home from baseball practice. he is pitching occasionally for his team, and is a good hitter. The week after school is out, he goes to Cub Sccout Day camp, while Beth is at CHBA Marching camp. We don't have a 10 day block to go on vacation this summer between Randy's and Beth's commitments. Randy will start 6th grade in the fall at Century Middle school. he will in the meantime have celebrated his 10th birthday, right after Independance Day.

Proud But Harried Parents

Dennis has a new canoe he wants to spend the summer in. We did take it to the local wildlive preserve and state park over Labor Day to check it out. We all have bikes and plan to do shore bike hikes throughout the Metro area when we don't have games, rehersals, or camps going on. cheryn is planning her folk's 50th, and dennis is planning on flying back to PA for his 35th HS reunion and play a little golf on the farm-turned-golf-course with his dad this summer. Cheryn, hopes to find time to update this and notify our friends mor often. She is practicing for this fall when she will help the librarial at Beth and Randy's Middle School with their web site.
