Dreamer's home page
As you can tell from my links I'm into Sci Fi / Fantasy. This also means that my interests also include space, science and technology. This is why I chose to become a computer programmer. Currently I'm a software engineer at Timera. I am married to a wonderful guy, have 2 cats and a dog, like horses and just about any other animal. My interests also include counted cross stich, books, skiing, and biking. I also play the piano, recorder and clarinet and I am currently learning the Guitar. Do I have time to indulge all of these interests? I wish!!!
My favorite writers
Anne McCaffery - DragonRiders of Pern Series, The Ship Who Sang, The Lady. Most of her other books although I didn't care for Dinosaur Planet Winner of the Nebulla and Hugo awards for best Sci Fi / Fantasy. Mercedes Lackey - Valdemar Series, Free Bard Series etc. Andre Norton - Witch World Series, Just about any of her others as well. Sci Fi with magic or psycic powers. David Weber - Honor Harrington Series, writes great space battles. Mellanie Rawn - Dragon Prince series. Janny Wurtz - Cycle of Fire series, Princes of Light & Dark series. She really puts her main characters through hell. Sharon Green - The Warrior series, Jalav series - Gor books for women. Diane Duane - The door into series, One of the best Star Trek writers with interesting plots and aliens. Really does a good job getting the original characters right Elizabeth Lowell - fantastic romance writer, very sensual writing without going into too many details Nora Roberts - romance writer but occasional cross overs into mystery / crime Dara Joy - romance with a sci fi twist Julia Quinn - romance with a lot of humor
Favorite TV
All the Star Trek shows. Everything from Babylon 5 and the Highlander series(except for the movies. Talk about plot holes you can drive a truck through). MASH, Forever Knight, Farscape, Beauty & the Beast, Quantum Leap. I also liked Lois & Clark and now Smallville. For current non genre shows I love West Wing. The Pretender
I guess I also have to admit to these - after all they were the only things close to Sci Fi on at the time. Six Million Dollar Man / Bionic Woman Space 1999 Knight Rider Wonder Woman The Hulk (actually some of these episodes had better writing) Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rodgers in the 25th Century (ever notice how Larson managed to recycle some of the special effects & plot line between these two shows?)
For other non-genre stuff. MASH, Carol Burnett Show, Bonanza (saw them in reruns)
Favorite Movies
Lord of the Rings. Star Wars (except for Phantom Menace). Jurrasic Park movies. Indiana Jones (except for #2). Star Trek of course (except for #5) Free Enterprise, Shrek
Good War Movies: Gettysburg, Saving Private Ryan, Tora, Tora, Tora. MASH, Kelly's Heros.
Oldies but goodies - non genre. Anything with Fred Astair, Gene Kelly or Bing Crosby and the ones pairing Hepburn and Tracy. His girl Friday. Most of the old musicals.
The old Robin Hood movie and other swash buckling types, Just about any Disney film.
Oldies but goodies - genre: Fantastic Planet, Metropolis.
