    Change Your Username

    You can follow these instructions for changing your username to add @ecentral.com Simply find the instuctions for your operating system and complete the directions.

    Windows XP

    From the Windows Desktop, click on the Start menu and choose Control Panel.

    Choose Network Connections (You may need to choose Switch to Classic View on the left side of the screen, to see this control panel).

    Once in the Network Connections window, you should see an icon labeled as your E.Central connection. Double-click on this icon.

    In the Connect To window you should see a line labeled User Name with your login name already entered. Click once with the left mouse button immediately to the right of your user name.

    Complete your new user name by typing in @ecentral.com. (no spaces) Example: If your user name had previously been john, your new user name should be john@ecentral.com. Your Password and Phone number both remain the same.

    After you have made this change, click on the Dial button and your computer will attempt to connect to E.Central. Once it finishes the connection process, return to your Desktop and proceed to run your web browser in the usual manner.

    Windows 95/98

    From the Windows Desktop, double-click on the My Computer icon.

    From the My Computer window, double-click on Dial-Up Networking.

    Once in the Dial-Up Networking window, you should see an icon labeled as your E.Central connection. Double-click on this icon.

    In the Connect To window you should see a line labeled User Name with your login name already entered. Click once with the left mouse button immediately to the right of your user name.

    Windows ME

    Windows NT 4.0

    From the Windows Desktop, double-click on the My Computer icon.

    From the My Computer window, double-click on Dial-Up Networking.

    Once in the Dial-Up Networking window, you should see an icon labeled as your E.Central connection. Double-click on this icon.

    Click on the More button.

    Click on Edit entry and modem properties...

    Click on the Security tab, then click on Unsave password. The label on the button should turn grey. Click on OK to close this window.

    This will take you back to the Dial-Up Networking window. Click on Dial, which will show a prompt for your user name, password, and domain.

    Add @ecentral.com after the current username. (example: if your current username is john, change your user name to john@ecentral.com) The password remains the same. Domain should be blank. Check Save Password if you desire, then click on OK to connect.

    Macintosh OS with FreePPP Dialer

    You can follow these instructions for changing your user name in Macintosh OS with the FreePPP Dialer program.

    Open the FreePPP control panel by clicking on the Apple menu, then Control Panels, then FreePPP Setup. (The icon may also be referred to as some variation on FreePPP Setup) Alternatively, you can also access this same menu by opening your Hard Drive and opening your Netscape or FreePPP folder.

    In the lower half of the FreePPP control panel you should see a set of three tabs labeled General, Accounts, Location, and Modems. If not, expand the control panel by clicking on the small triangle icon in the lower left corner of the screen. Click on the Accounts tab. Select your E.Central connection and click on Edit.

    The User Name field should currently show your old login name. To update this, simply retype the same name with @ecentral.com after your user name. (no spaces) Example: If your present user name is john, your new user name should be john@ecentral.com. Your password does not need to be modified. Once you have done so, click on OK. Click on File and select Quit.

    Macintosh OS with PPP or Remote Access

    Newer Macintoshes primarily use either Remote Access or PPP as their Internet dialer. These two terms both refer to the same program and are used interchangeably. In order to change your user name using these programs, you must first open the PPP Control Panel. Do this by clicking on the Apple menu (typically found in the upper left corner of your screen) then Control Panels, then either PPP or Remote Access.

    The Name field should currently display your old username. To update this, simply retype the same name with @ecentral.com after your username. (no spaces) Example: If your present username is john, your new user name should be john@ecentral.com.

    Once you have done this, click on the File menu and click on Quit. If you are prompted to save changes, please do so.

    Macintosh OS X

    Open System Preferences. Do this by clicking on the Apple menu (typically found in the upper left corner of your screen) then System Preferences.

    Click Network.

    On the PPP tab the Account Name field should currently display your old username. To update this, simply retype the same name with @ecentral.com after your username. (no spaces) Example: If your present username is john, your new user name should be john@ecentral.com.

    Once you have done this, close the Network. If you are prompted to save changes, please do so.
